The Nifty and the Sensex fell over 0.2% at the closing session
on Monday on the absence of directional cues. Profit booking by funds and
retail investors at higher levels amid forecast of below normal rains dampened
the trading sentiment.
The Sensex closed at 22,631.60 down 56.45 points and The Nifty closed at 6761.25 down 21.5 points. Corporate earnings (Q4 March 2014 and year ended FY 2014) estimation and result are given more volotile in our market,
Among BSE sectoral indices, capital goods, auto, metal and FMCG indices fell the most by 1.01%, 0.97%, 0.53% and 0.42%, respectively. On the other hand, health care, realty and banking indices found investor’s support and were up 1.65%, 0.57% and 0.36%, respectively.
The Sensex top five gainers are Cipla Ltd, Sun Pharma, State bank of India, Wipro and Dr Reddy, and the top losers are Gail, Larsen & Tubro Hero Motocorp, Bhel, and Tata Motors.
